There are so many free activities that are available you don't have to worry about pulling out your wallet. Here are some of our favourite free activities happening around the Niagara Region this summer.
Music Niagara Festival is a world-class summer music festival with Canadian & international musicians performing a huge variety of music genres. These events take place all around, usually convening in special intimate venues like churches, parks, wineries & restaurants. Although there are some ticketed shows, you can easily experience a bunch of new and up-and-coming artists for free! If you have the time this is the perfect way to spend a summer night or two, soaking up international artistry.
We cannot get enough of Port Colborne's Canal Days! This is a four-day celebration of the storied history & heritage surrounding this significant port town. This celebration has something for everyone in the family. You can ride on the tall ships that come into port, enjoy Jazz On The Lawn, or walk through Ontario's largest outdoor classic car show. Or, if you have children with you, feel free to play in the Tim Horton's Kids Zone before watching the International Kite Festival! If you are looking to get food and trinkets there are numerous food and shopping kiosks available throughout the day and top-notch entertainment nightly!
Voted 'Best New Festival' in 2017, World Music on the Beach is a fantastic event for the whole family. Come and experience world-class musicians from all over for free! This is the perfect way to expose yourself to a whole world of different sounds and cultures. There's also a kids' area that features a "jazz instrument petting zoo", bouncy castles, photo booth, tickle trunk, and fun games.
The Fort Erie Friendship Festival is a must-see event! This festival is made to support and promote tourism while celebrating the good relations between Canada and the United States. Although there are paid elements of this event, there are many free activities for you and the family to enjoy. Come check out the rides, midway, and concerts, or take advantage of the quieter family activity and green areas.
