Now is the perfect time to get out and about with friends and family, taking in some fantastic St. Catharines fall events. There are so many, in fact, your October calendar will be filled in no time!
Cicada Music & Arts Festival
Come for the live music and talented local artisans, stay for the food, craft beer and spirits. This year’s festival headliner is Joel Plaskett Emergency, and over a dozen other acts will also appear, including musicians from Halifax, Brantford, Hamilton, St. Catharines and Niagara. The Cicada Music & Arts Festival, held on Saturday, October 5th, is all for a good cause; proceeds are donated to the Movember Foundation of Canada. The location? Henley Island in scenic Port Dalhousie.
Ball’s Falls Thanksgiving Festival
This year marks the 45th annual festival, a staple on every St. Catharines fall events calendar! There are more than 170 juried artisans, food vendors and entertainers to enjoy at the Ball’s Falls Thanksgiving Festival. Performers feature a wide variety of music, including country, popular and children’s, and there are tons of fun activities to keep the kids happy. At the Farmer’s Market you can buy local produce, VQA wines, local brews, flowers, meat and eggs. The festival raises money for conservation and environmental programs at the ever-popular Ball’s Falls Conservation Area. Held Thanksgiving weekend, Friday through Monday.
Taste St. Catharines Food Festival
Looking for the best food and drinks in the Niagara Region? Come to Market Square on Sunday, October 13th and get in on the ground floor of the first annual Taste St. Catharines Food Festival! The brainchild of a local resident, this event was inspired by a popular Instagram account of the same name. The festival is held in support of Food4Kids Niagara, a fantastic organization that provides healthy food packages to kids aged 4-14 who have limited or no access to food each weekend.
This St. Catharines fall event is fun-filled for the entire family! There are a ton of free games, activities and entertainment available at this year’s Pumpkinville, including a pumpkin patch, a pumpkin carving contest, fall family photo booth, scarecrow building, inflatable bouncers, hay dive, face painting, pony rides and a craft table. Food vendors will ensure everyone is fed and happy, offering burgers and fries, hot dogs, kettle-cooked popcorn, ice cream, baked goods, and fresh fruits and vegetables. The first 500 families to arrive at Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm on Saturday, October 19th even receive a free pumpkin at the gate!
Hernder Haunted Halloween Bash Part 11
This is known as none other than the best adult costume party in Niagara! The best costumes can win up to $1,000 in total prize money. Musical entertainment for the night will be provided by Jonesy, a five-piece pop and rock cover band from the Niagara Region. The Hernder Haunted Halloween Bash Part 11 is held on Friday, October 25th in support of the Niagara Health Foundation, with proceeds going to the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
